Auckland is, more or less, in a temperate zone but near to the tropical weather patterns prevalent a little further north. The weather may therefore vary, though its seaside location is a stabiliser that makes the overall climate mild. Average temperatures run, roughly, between 10°C (50°F) in the winter and 20°C (68°F) in the summer. Visitors from the northern hemisphere should remember that their seasons are the reverse of southern hemisphere seasons. Rainfall is pretty much evenly distributed throughout the year.
